The new website is coming along well. I got a load done while away last week. While I'm still going to beaver away at it over the next month or so, I'm also going to have a go at a RR competition entry too. While Smila and Stu are busying themselves on Bruce Lee, I've decided to take a rather easy stroll in MMF and revisit Antiriad. Why revisit a game we did back in 2003 for the first competition? Well while Stu did a sterling job of recreating the gameplaying experience of the original, it was a rushed second entry and the graphics sufferred in places somewhat. Some are a bit rushed and others very rushed. :p As per the compo rules, I'm starting completely from scratch, not that there is much you can re-use when moving from Jamagic which is a programming language to MMF which is a conceptually different devlopment environment. The great thing about MMF is I can concentrate on the graphics and level design and spend less time in the coding part. However this time around it won't be a straight remake. I've some big changes planned, only the core objective will be the same (get armour, kit it up and blow un the reactor). I'm hoping I can add in enough new content to extend it beyond the Commodore 64 classic into a new game in its own right.

We have geared down the Myth production as its almost time for the Retro Remakes Competition The rules are posted on 1st September so we have a few ideas on what we want to get done, once the rules are posted we can make a firm decision. Theres still so many retro games to remake, the choice is endless. i thought last years Nemesis was a good choice but it wasn't in the judges eyes. With 2 weeks to the deadline Andy went on holidays so it was left to me to "tart up", so probably wasn't as good as it should have been. Since last year I have actually addressed most if not all the issues with Nemesis and Andy has added a "secret" level to it. Couple that with a 2 player co-cop option, you can see we have been busy on it. It also runs on a Mac now. Ive passed the code onto Andy as he is trying to pickup BlitzMax again. Whilst we are talking of the Mac, I have also lined up Quantasm and Hunters Moon for Mac release. We need a good forum or 2 so that we can advertise them to the masses as Dan Dare has not been downloaded that many times and Im thinking alot of that is that we just dont know where to advertise it. Competition Game, Myth, JSW 3.0, Nemesis v2...... So much to do and so little time todo it in............
