What has OVINE been up to and why has it been so quiet here lately?
It has been quiet here, but we have been busy little sheep over the last few months developing some mobile games for Apple’s iPhone/iTouch/iPad, Android phones/tablets and Windows Phone. Our first game is out now.
Today, the thoroughly nice chaps at Clickteam, released the long awaited OSX Export Module for Multimedia Fusion.
There’s no shortage of online retailers if you desire a retro gaming T-Shirt, but I came across a new site by accident today that has a unique collection of original designs.
Glennz Tees has a likeable graphic design style and an abundance of unique ideas that come together perfectly in T-Shirt form. Best of all there are plenty of retro and retro gaming style Tee’s to choose from.
Want an animation and rendering tool that has been quietly used in feature films, commercials, games, music videos and print ads for over 10 years? Maybe messiahStudio for $10 (or $40 for pro version) is for you?
I came across this link today on the Retro Remakes forum. In an experimental viral scheme, for $10 you can reserve a copy of messiahStudio version 5 (the latest version) and if they reach their target that’s exactly what you’ll get according to their website. If they don’t reach their target you’ll simply get your money back.
And the winner is…
It’s a question that has been asked for decades, arguments in the playground, at the water cooler and on news night, but now Ovine can reveal what was the best 8-bit micro computer of all time.
In November 2010, on the 6th and 7th to be exact, Ovine’s Andy, Stu and Andrew (aka Uncle) made the journey to Blackpool for an event called R3PLAY, possibly the best retro gaming event ever.
It has been a couple of months since we went and we’ve not really posted anything beyond Facebook and Twitter, so it’s about time we addressed that failing.
R3PLAY (pronounced replay) which had formed from the merging of three smaller gaming expos, hence the 3 in name, had an indie developer section this year and Ovine was invited to attend as an exhibitor to show some of our stuff.
All the Ovine game microsites are back up and working normally now, including high score tables and download links. Let us know if you find any problems as it’s possible I’ve missed something

I’ve always wanted to remake Stormbringer, my favourite game in the Magic Knight series that was a budget release on a selection of 8-bit computers in the 1980′s.
This is a sprite I made for the main character that draws inspiration from the artwork on the games cassette box and animates with eight frames of reasonably fluid walking motion. I had it as my animated avatar for quite a while. Must kick myself to make a Magic Knight style game one day.
